Why sweeping protects your pavement
By April, most Alberta lots carry a layer of traction sand and gravel. Every tire grinds that grit into the surface like sandpaper, and it packs into catch basins so meltwater pools instead of draining. Standing water is what finds its way into cracks and softens the base.
A proper spring sweep removes the grit, opens the drains and gives you a clear look at what winter did to the pavement. It is also the first step of every sealcoat and line painting job, because coatings only bond to clean asphalt.

Sweeping questions
When should spring sweeping happen?
As soon as the snow is gone and the lot is dry, usually April to May in Central Alberta. Booking over the winter gets you on the early part of the schedule.
Is sweeping included with sealcoating or line painting?
Yes. Every sealcoat, crack sealing and striping job starts with a full sweep and blow-out, because coatings and sealant only bond to clean pavement.
Can sweeping be bundled with other maintenance?
Yes, and it’s the most efficient way to do it. A spring visit can cover the sweep, a crack and pothole inspection and crack sealing, with sealcoating and restriping later in the summer.
Do you sweep for municipalities and summer villages?
Yes. We take on spring cleanup and as-needed sweeping of public lots, facility grounds and pathways, and can price it as a seasonal program.
